Is participation in RRSA anonymous?
Typically, students’ participation in RRSA is not anonymous because they provide first names, last names, email accounts, and an enrollment key they get from their instructor. Because this information is provided, students can complete RRSA on different dates and request additional services – emails with their results and additional learning resources. In addition, course instructors can get completion reports that list all students who took RRSA, which is useful for issuing extra credit. A new enrollment key can be established for each group (e.g., a course or a group attending a library instruction session), which helps to understand who the data are coming from and to compare group performance. While non-anonymous participation is common, other options are available.
