Is paralysis obtained from viral encephalitis permanent ?
Encephalitis = inflammation (swelling) of the brain. Once the swelling has dissipated, then a survivor is left to cope with the impact/damage caused by such swelling. In the months following, the body struggles to RE-learn the skill(s) with have been lost.. .with varying degrees of success. In short, please know that recovery from encephalitis is measured in a 2 year (and longer) time frame. Also, it is typical that no one, not even the medical professionals, can ascertain how much improvement, or how long that improvement will take.
