Is paradise lost a mature read?
Is it full of sex? No. Paradise Lost is not a titillating ****. Is it a “mature read” in the sense that, as many consider it to be one of the most important works of English, it’s hard to get through, has a great deal to say, and has directly influenced mankinds ideas of God, the Hero, and the beginning of time? Yes, absolutely. Paradise Lost is about the rebellion of the creator against the created. If Frankenstein was getting at anything, it was getting at that. Dr. Frankenstein will be pleased to know that at no point does Milton say that the angels and their rebellion was just or right. Satan was not the hero.
