Is Paganism or Pagan groups a cult?
Paganism, and Pagan orientated groups, are no more a cult than any other religious group such as the Christian Churches, etc. According to the WorldReference.com online dictionary, a cult is defined as “a system of religious beliefs and rituals”, or “adherents of an exclusive system of religious beliefs and practices”. In this definition even the Catholic, Anglican, Protestant, Mormon, etc Churches can be considered to be a cult. For example, Christianity is “a system of religious beliefs and rituals”, and Christian Churches comprise “adherents of an exclusive system of religious beliefs and practices”, so Christianity and Christian Churches meet the technical definition of a cult just as much as any Pagan belief could.
