Is over population really the problem?

Actually the overpopulation of humans really IS the problem. Obviously the countries at the “top” use most of the resources and don’t want to use less so that others can use more. Countries like India and China in particular have huge populations which are where the people in the United States were during the Industrial Revolution. They are going to want to have running water, electricity and transportation available to them just as we wanted it when it became available. This is going to put a huge drain on the already depleted (by US!) resources. When push comes to shove we will not be willing to pay more or use less for our resources so there is going to be a conflict. It seems to me that proportionally everything stays the same. Numbers wise there are the same proportion of the world’s population in abject poverty as there ever was, the number of wars and amount of disease seems to remain relatively stable. The only thing that “progress” has accomplished is to allow there to be more
