Molly McDowell predicted a .500 record and every player was smiling during media day. Head coach Lori Opp predicted a sixth place finish and was bold enough to call out those who would surely jump on the Saluki bandwagon as the team rose from the dead. “If you all make the mistake of missing out later, you’ll have to catch up,” Opp told the southern Illinois media in November. Unfortunately for Opp and SIU, members of the media did not have to catch up to the Salukis’ bandwagon – it never made it off the assembly line.
