Is open-air burning permitted in therural area?
Controlled burn permits are issued only to owners of properties in Ward 2 or their authorized agents. They are available from the Canton office for a one-time fee of $15, renewable each year without cost. Each permit expires on Dec. 31 of that calendar year. There is no burning allowed without a burn permit. For more information on burns and burn permits, please look on the Municipality of Port Hope website under “Bylaws” at Bylaw 15/2006.
