Is OMC (Outboard Marine Company) still in business?
OMC, the past builder of Johnson and Evinrude motors, filed for bankruptcy in December, 2000. After bankruptcy procedures, in the spring of 2001, the engine division was purchased by Bombardier, whose product families include Sea-Doo personal watercraft, Ski-Doo snowmobiles, Learjet, ATVs and high-speed bullet trains. Bombardier is a large, financially stable company who’s family now includes the Evinrude/Johnson outboard engine lines.
