Is Ohio U engaged in any ongoing energy projects?
In the spring of 2007, President McDavis signed the President’s Climate Commitment. As a signatory, Ohio University has promised to conduct a comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions inventory and, within the first two years of signing, to develop a specific plan for achieving climate neutrality. Our greenhouse gas emissions inventory is nearly complete and the recently approved Campus Sustainability Plan will lay out the framework for achieving climate neutrality. In October 2007, Ohio U hosted the Ohio Climate & Energy Workshop. This event highlighted institutional efforts to address climate and energy issues within the context of Ohio State House Bill 251, Governor Strickland’s Executive Order 2007-02S, the Higher Education Energy Challenge, the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, and other relevant policy initiatives.
