No the machine is not safe to use around people or pets. The machine is designed to be used in an unaccupied area only. ODOROX makes high levels of ozone. The machine was tested by UL and found to make toxic amounts of O3. http://www.internationalozone.com/UL%20Odorox%20Report%20Total.pdf
