Is Ochsner an academic center or a community-based hospital?
Ochsner is a global academic medical center providing tertiary care, with 700 physician-faculty members who form the core of our academic community. In addition, our resident-driven academics are supported by our large basic science research division as well as very active clinical research programs. Our multispecialty clinic provides superb clinical training to more than 250 interns and residents each year and serves as the principal teaching site for hundreds of medical students, including those enrolled in our own Ochsner-University of Queensland Clinical School. Ochsner has established tight academic partnerships with other local medical schools (Louisiana State and Tulane), national academic medical centers (including Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic), and global medical powerhouses such as the University of Queensland.
