Is Obamas speech to our youth free speech or indoctronation?
So I’m fifty-five. Politicians came to our schools all the time and gave speeches to assemblies we were required to attend. When cowboy actor Clint Walker came to our junior high to ask us to have our parents vote for Barry Goldwater, we were required to attend. We discussed politics in civics class which was required in all schools. We watched US Govt films that taught us about secret communist cells crawling through the sewers to commit sabotage and spy. We watched Industry on Parade films teaching us the glories of American capitalism. No one whined about indoctrination when armed forces recruiters came to our high school to recruit for the war in Vietnam. And guess what? No one is really worried about Obama “indoctrinating our children.” If you look at the states where this protest is concentrated, it may as well be a map of the states with the highest KKK membership. This is about a black man in the White House who isn’t there to shine shoes and cook meals and keep house. This is
I don’t think it is either. And since nobody that is criticizing the speech has actually read it, it is just more fear tactics by the far right wackos. I think when the speech is over with, it will be praised by most as an uplifting, motivating speech by our president to the youth of America to study and work hard to be successful in school and life. My child will be watching the speech, just like I would have let him watch Reagan and Bush, Sr. when they did the same. Much ado about nothing…I think Republicans are just digging a deeper hole for themselves.
