Is Obama planning on cutting Social Security and Medicare benefits?
There are two ways of reducing deficits. You can either reduce benefits. Or you can reduce costs. The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that Medicare costs can be cut by 30% just by tightening up on lax procedures. These are rampant. You can just watch TV and see ads for “The Scooter Store” that guarantees you a $5000 scoooter “paid for by Medicare”. And lots of ads for stuff delivered to your door free of charge, “Medicare pays all”. Just by my personal experience I see huge amounts of waste related to my family’s medical care. So, no, we don’t need any death panels, just common sense on spending.
