Is Obama Making any special Provisions for High Speed Rail?
California High Speed Rail Authority stands to get some of the funding… since their planning is 90% complete, AND the voters of the State passed a bond-measure back in November. Construction is planned to start this year… completion in 2015 http://www.cahighspeedrail.ca.gov/ http://www.cahighspeedrail.ca.gov/news/0… I reject the statement that “The US Rail system was built for freight”… it ran GREAT passenger service on those same lines for almost 75 years before the Government stopped subsidizing the service (in using the trains for postal service). TRUE HIGH SPEED rail (150mph or more) is really only needed for sections competing with air-travel, or over 200 miles in length.
