Is Oat Grass Seed (for cats) the same as Oat seed from farm supply stores?

Kitty grass is usually wheat grass or a mix of grain grasses. You can get seeds at any pet store. One brand is called Cosmic Kitty Grass that includes some herbs that cats like along with the grass seeds. If you want to buy the oat grass seeds at the feed supply site and know that your cat likes that kind of grass, go ahead. You just fill a 4-inch square plastic pot with potting soil, put a layer of seeds over that, and cover them with about 1/4 inch of soil. Once they start sprouting (in a few days to a week), you can move the pot to a window to get some light. When the grass is 4 or 5 inches long, it’s ready for the cat. I used to grow a new pot every couple of weeks. That way I had a fresh supply of kitty grass every couple of weeks, which is about how long it took for the cat to eat it and have it start wilting.
