Is NVRI a public interest law firm or an advocacy organization?
It is both. NVRI serves as a prominent legal and public education center in the campaign finance reform field. As a public interest law firm, we defend meaningful campaign finance reform laws across the country and challenge the campaign finance system on voting rights grounds. In our advocacy role, we broaden the public debate on money in politics, moving beyond the narrow focus on purported First Amendment rights of the wealthy and well-connected to First Amendment and Equal Protection rights of everyone in the political process, regardless of economic status.
