Is NT Workstation a feasible SQL Server 11.x platform?

0

Yes. At one time, Microsoft set a limit on the number of incoming sockets available on a 4.0 NT workstation, enforcing this limit in the NT registry. Consequently, SQL Servers running on a 4.0 NT workstation could communicate via client-side socket to no more than 10 clients at a time. This made the 4.0 NT workstation a poor choice for a SQL Server platform. Microsoft has since disabled the enforcement program. However, Microsoft’s license agreement specifies the socket limit.
