They have a great football team (went 9-3 last year but lost a heartbreaker to Missouri in the Alamo Bowl). Northwestern is a Big Ten school, the academic Big Ten is known as the Committee on Institutional Cooperation, and is one of the most prestigious conference allegiences in the nation, possibly second only to the Ivy League. Even though it’s not an Ivy League school, it’s not just a football factory like you might be thinking. They don’t have the party life of some other Big Ten schools, but their parties are more exciting than an Ivy League “party”. Ivy League parties consist of sipping dry martinis slowly and discussing philosophy, except for Cornell, they sometimes drink beer while discussing their philosophy (Cornell is considered the “party school” of the Ivy League).
