Is North America really the only continent that absorbs as much carbon dioxide as it produces?

The article doesn’t quite say what you think it does. It says, based on the very large fossil fuel emissions of CO2 in North America, atmospheric CO2 should be increasing even faster than what is measured. So they think that there must be a sink for CO2 in North America that is absorbing some of the excess CO2. They are in no way saying NA absorbs more than it produces. Here’s another article about it that’s much clearer. Note the graph. The very top dark green area is increasing emissions of fossil fuels. The very bottom dark brown area is increasing CO2 in the atmosphere. Note that the bottom is still going up faster and faster, but not as much as the top. http://www.whrc.org/carbon/missingc.htm Finally an article about the “missing carbon sink” which raises the possibility that it might stop working and cause global warming to accelerate even faster.
