Is Nicole a sex worker?
Nicole is NOT a sex worker. She is educated and comes in fact from a prominent family in Zamboanga. She started managing their canteen after she finished college. She tried to take up nursing in Ateneo de Zamboanga but stopped because she found it hard to juggle work and school. As manager of their canteen, Nicole supervises personnel and sometimes acts as cashier, waitress, cook, or even driver. Because of the canteen’s strategic location, their usual customers include Filipino and American soldiers ever since she was a child. Because of this, Nicole’s family trusted American soldiers and treated them like one of their own.
