Is newton observing the apple and discovering gravity inductive reasoning?

0

The story of the apple is of course a myth. But if it were true it would be inductive reasoning. When one has but a limited sample space, like a few apples falling, and infers that all apples would fall like that because of the same forces everywhere, that’s inductive reasoning. There is a sort of leap of faith in inductive reasoning. Deductive reasoning follows directly from the evidence and makes no leap of faith. For example, if A = B and B = C, then A = C is deductive. The conclusion, A = C follows directly from the assertions and no leap of faith from a sample to the whole is required.
