Yes. Although state laws do vary, most of what you may think is law are actually the rules of individual cemeteries or funeral homes, or common practices assumed to be legal requirements.Typically vaults are not required by law, but conventional cemeteries use them for landscape maintenance purpose. Embalming is usually only required when death is due to a communicable or contagious disease, if a body is transported by common carrier, or isnt buried within a certain amount of time after death.
