Is Nappy Roots worried about comparisons to other southern rap groups such as Goodie Mob?
Big V: Not worried, but we’re aware. It could’ve been a hell of a lot lower. They could have compared us to Milli Vanilli. So we’ll take [comparisons] as being a compliment, but we’re Nappy Roots. We’re six strong emcees. Everybody can rap. Big ups to Goodie Mob and them. I love what they do. But Nappy Roots is something else, and if anybody pick up the record they’ll figure that out. But we love being compared to those guys ’cause it could’ve been a lot lower. And just to have our name in the same sentence as them means a whole lot. Do you feel that Nappy Roots is paving the way for other rappers in Kentucky to come out and do their thing? Big V: Absolutely. Every move we make is groundbreaking, but yet we find out the ups and downs to it. During the success, God has a way of serving us a slice of humble pie. Everybody is waiting on us to kick in the door out of Kentucky. We’re going to try to help. We’re going to try and put other emcees on, but after we establish Nappy Roots in here
