Is Nagilums power to kill similar to the Douwds power of thought?
Answer Hey John – Yes the episode left much of Nagilum’s nature to conjecture. I would guess that his power to kill is in some way similar to the Douwd’s in that both make use of energies that can pass through the navigational and/or defensive shields of vessels and cause severe disruption to a biological organism, even over vast distances. The Douwd might be slightly more powerful as it showed the ability to broadcast these energies over vast areas of space, whereas Nagilum only showed evidence that his powers affected a specific region of space. At this point it’s all conjecture on my part, but I would say that yes, their abilities are very similar. That is a great observation regarding Quinn! If rendered mortal and allowed to remain on a Starfleet vessel stranded in the Delta Quadrant (and one which had yet to cross Borg space) would he not be subjected to untold dangers that could easily result in the loss of his life? The only explanation I can see lies in Quinn’s intent. If Quinn
