Is my Surfactant product compliant with EU Directive 94/62/EC regarding Packaging and Packaging Waste?
Article 11 to Council Directive 94/62/EC of 20 December 1994 on packaging and packaging waste requires that the sum of concentration levels of lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium present in packaging or packaging components shall not exceed 100 ppm by weight five years after the date referred to in Article 22 (i) i.e. 30 June 1996. These products do not contain a sum concentration of lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium greater than 100 ppm. We do not routinely analyze this product for heavy metals (like cadmium, hexavalent chromium, lead and mercury) and their compounds. However, based on the following reasons, Dow does not believe that this product would contain detectable levels of mercury, cadmium, lead or hexavalent chromium: • To the best of our knowledge, the raw materials used to produce this product do not contain detectable levels of these substances. • Dow’s production process would not be expected to introduce any of these substances into this product.
