Is my progesterone cream countering the effects of Estrace?
Dear Doctor N: Can progesterone counter act the good affects of Estrace? I take 1mg. estrace in the morning and use a little progesterone cream at bedtime, but by morning my skin feels dry, and after my shower, my skin almost hurts. Could the progesterone be counter acting the good affects of the estrogen? Or do I need to take more estrace. I can feel the progesterone having an affect on my skin when it kicks in. It makes me feel warmer. I am confused. My doctor had put me on CombiPatch, but it make me too emotional. So we went this root. Any advice would be appreciated. Reply: I assume that you do not have a uterus. If you do have a uterus you will need a form of progesterone and regimen that is known to protect the uterus. Transdermal progesterone cream provides no endometrial protection. I do not think your skin symptoms are due to the progesterone cream.
