No, mail sent to your personal address goes to the same inbox as your NetID address, and your NYU NetID remains unchanged. Your personal email address is just a synonym for your NetID@nyu.edu official address. In other words, albert.q.einstein@nyu.edu is an email “alias” for aqe123@nyu.edu.
