Is my pekingese worth anything as a stud dog?

If you are in the UK, it depends if he is registered with the Kennel Club, if the lines in his pedigree are known and worth having, if he has been used successfully at stud before and (more than anything) if he is a good example of the breed. If he’s getting on in years & hasn’t been used – forget it. It’s surprising difficult to get a successful mating from an inexperienced dog, especially with an inexperienced handler and even if you were successful you’d probably find it changed his personality for the worst and you might find it caused other problems like scent marking indoors.

He’s not worth anything unless he has a Ch. in front of his name – meaning he’s obtained his breed championship. The fact that you have his pedigree for 9 generations means absolutely nothing.
