The question is why do you think your mobile is being located? I’m sure the answer is some place else. Your mobile is reporting frequently to at least one cell. Probably up to six in urban environments. All you can tell, from looking at the information of the network, is that you are in a circular area around that cell. Let’s say that you’re in the middle of a long road far away from urban areas. Most likely, you’re reporting to the only cell with coverage there. I can guess that you’re over the route one side or the other of that cell. If you’re moving and I see you changing from one cell to the next, I can guess where you’re heading. In urban areas, it’s theoretically possible to triangulate your position because you’re reporting to many cells. And, adding the power of the signal to the equation, is possible to reduce some of the circles. However, all the concrete and metal structures make the signals bounce and get one way or the other indirectly. So, I wouldn’t say it’s an accurate
