Is my dog paralyzed or just getting the kinks out?
My lab has started keeping his head down like that after waking up on occasion, but he is at least 13 years old. I took him to the vet, who examined him and said it an age related muscle-skelton issue. He gave him some rimadyl to use if he is having a bad day. But veering to the side, and not raising her head for a treat would worry me, especially if she’s food driven. My vet once told me that lethargy, and not wanting to do stuff that they usually enjoy such as eating, being petted, or going for a walk, are the indicators that the dog really needs a vet visit ASAP. He said that dogs are a lot more stoic than we are and he’s seen dogs that are dying want to get up and go for a walk to be with their person. If they look like they’re feeling bad, they’re really feeling horrible. Good luck, I hope your girl is better soon.
