Is my current R-22 systems being replaced with new, Freon-free R-410a?

Yes. In 2010, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) bans the use of Freon HVAC refrigerant HCFC-22 (R-22) in newly built equipment, most manufaturers are already phasing out there R-22 line which will start in 2008. In 2020, more EPA laws will ban all R-22 production and importing. The new R-410a systems require larger coils and line sizes so whole system replacement will need to take place not just equipment change outs, this will increase the total cost to replace equipment.
