Is music allowed in Islam?
Some scholars say that music is not allowed (Haram) while others say that it is permissible depending on the type. For example, it is not ‘okay’ to listen to music about sex and drugs. Many Muslims feel that listening to music is okay, if the music has a simple drum beat and is about the worship of Allah. The definition of what is considered ‘music’ and what types, if any, are allowed varies greatly from person to person.
