Is multiple myeloma curable?
Myeloma is not considered curable. However I have patients out 10 years with myeloma, some of whom have no evidence of disease at present. Whether they are cured or not is speculation, but cure is not what is sold to the patient at the time of treatment. Autologous stem cell transplantation has made a major impact in this disease, along with multiple other drugs such as thalidomide, lenalidomide, bortezomib, etc. Allogeneic transplant theoretically represents a curative option, though very very few patients are eligible for this and it is a highly morbid treatment for any patient. Myeloma.org is a great website for more info. They probably have resources that may help you find doctors in your country who could help.
