Is MONOGAMY natural?
No, monogamy isn’t natural. Though humans are capable of forming pair bonds, we evolved to be polyamorous or polygamous. However, it’s important to clear up a misconception. Lots of men seem to think that they would benefit greatly from a world where polygamy/polyamory is embraced. They think that they will be able to have lots of wives/girlfriends, and lots of sex with lots of different women. The reality couldn’t be further from the truth. Monogamy actually benefits MEN much moreso than it benefits women. The reason monogamy came about was because MEN were pissed off because all the women would end up with the best men, leaving most men without partners. Now that we live in a monogamous society, almost every man will find a partner, even if that partner isn’t of the quality they would prefer, simply because the population is roughly half male and half female.
