Is Monets art considered imitationalism?
Monet is considered an impressionist. In fact it was his painting Impression Sunrise that gave the movement that name. As for an ‘imitationalist’ artist, I have never heard the term despite several art history classes. Most artists who paint realistically are referred to as “realists” and their work can be found in several different art history periods.
