IS Modchip or something needed to play ps3 games or it can play copied game without any modchip?

Currently, there is no mod chip designed for the PS3 to play backup copies of games. I haven’t seen any news on the forums or news-boards of major mod-chip producers, however, that doesn’t mean they aren’t working on something. As a note, if / when they do mod the PS3, whether it be via a chip or a firmware upgrade, PS3 games are burned to Blu-Ray disks because of the amount of data they can store and the quality of the video being played. This means you will need to get a Blu-Ray burner as well as blank dual-layer Blu-Ray disks which currently run at around $30 per blank disk.
