Is minimally invasive heart surgery done at the Heart Institute?

0

Dr. Joyce generally performs his surgeries through small incisions and has an interest and expertise in this area. There are cosmetic advantages, but no true quality improvements associated with a minimally invasive approach. In fact, in some instances safety and quality can be compromised by a too aggressive minimally invasive approach. Our highest priority in all of our heart surgery is safety and quality, and we will not offer an approach that we believe will compromise the success of a surgery. If it can be done safely and well, however, we can and will do it!
