Is Microfinance the best solution for the problems of poverty ?
It can be the part of the solution but not the only solution. Poverty can not be reduced by these small amounts. Even, if you keep giving a group a fixed amount, it is not enough to pull them out of the poverty. When they start getting more loans, rather than they taking it a finance service available it could be a possibility that they get in to consumerism. We have to create a lot of opportunities with in the environment. So the availability of financial services is only a part of the story there are lots of other non-financial services, which the poor need. Poor are marginalized so things like how do they access market effectively? How do they access their entitlement and other benefits effectively? All these are issues and these small amounts will not be able to help that. If we look at the poverty eradication, it is going to be a slow process and we have to see how we can use this very good technology, which has developed over last 10-12 years by taking it into next stage of exper
