Is Michael Phelps a good role model for my 5yr old gob brother?
Michael Phelps is a great role model. Your god brother is too young to understand the drama surrounding Phelps’ life and that is the beauty of naive youth. On a separate note, I hope that when Michael Phelps retires that he helps lead a movement to decriminalize marijuana. If a multi-gold medal Olympian can smoke it and still perform the way he does with no bad side effects, that says it all. During the Vancouver Olympics, the local station did a piece on the process of random urinalysis testing that is done on high profile athletes. Apparently, the urine testers can surprise athletes at their homes in the off season. Supporters of this testing claim that the deterrent effect from doing steroids is why it is still needed. However, the #1 drug that turns up is THC, not steroids. Because marijuana is technically illegal, the athlete is still suspended from competition. It’s a shame, too.
