Is MIchael Jordan better than Wilt Chamberlain?

This is a bit subjective.

On paper, Walt Chamberlain is the best all-time. However, stats don’t tell the tale.

Chamberlain may have put up close to 35 points per game, but he lived in an era where basketball was a new sport. He was, easily, the tallest guy in the league at that time, and for that reason alone he was so good. His only opposition, Bill Russel, gave him alot of problems.

Jordan, however, competed at the league’s heighth of competition. In the 80’s, you were likely to run in to someone like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, the bad-boy Pistons, or other teams with perennial hall of famers. The problem: Jordan didn’t win a title in that era. Sadly, he won all six of his rings in the 90’s, when the level of competition slimmed down, as the guys from the 80’s began to lose their step.

Still, Jordan was able to lead his team to six titles as a shooting guard against a league well-established and full of athletic, tall, players. Chamberlain dominated an era full of ragtag athletes.

Two different eras and two different positions, but overall stats say Dipper is better. Rebounds, points, blocks, FG%. Overall savy and skill level goes to Jordan who was the greatest closer we’ve seen ever. His ability to play both ends, his killer instinct and his ability to do what he wanted when he wanted puts him in a league by himself. The Jordan from 1985-1996 was the best we will ever see in a player in terms of dominance of a league(winning). I lot of us have forgotten the speed, quickness, explosiveness(ala dunkin on Tree Rollins and Ewing) the passes, the defense, the leadership, taking the whole team to the rack, special schemes of defense devised for one player (the Jordan Rules) He was just a once in a lifetime type player and for the warp basketball world to compare Bryant with him is an insult. I would also take Wilt over Shaq. Russell, Robinson, Walton, Reed. I believe Jabbar and Dream were one half step under Wilt. Three different eras, but Wilt is clearly the most do
