The Urban Development Plan Formulation and implementation (UDPFI) guidelines formulated by Institute of Town Planners India (ITPI) for Ministry of Urban Development recommend an allocation of 20-25% of total city’s land for transport and communications in metro cities, 18-20% land in large cities and 12-14% in medium cities.
