By them selves, you cannot directly connect them. You can connect an installation of Office Communications Server 2007 via the Public Internet Connectivity feature. This would allow an OCS user to communicate with AIM and Live Messenger (and Yahoo) clients. I did not think LM and AIM enabled direct federeation however.
