Is Merchiston a nice area of Edinburgh?
Yes it is. In fact it, and the adjacent areas of Morningside, Grange, and Bruntsfield comprise some of the most sought after areas of Edinburgh in which to live. It’s increasingly Edinburgh’s literary quarter: several famous authors live within a few hundred yards of the Merchiston campus. Generally, the crime rate in Edinburgh is below the national average for the UK, and the Merchiston area of Edinburgh is not regarded as a high risk area (although the usual precautions associated with living in any large city are advised).
