Is menopause a cause of hair loss in women?
During menopause many biochemical changes happen in your body which also cause hair loss. Though women rarely turn bald because of menopause and hair loss, it mainly occurs because of thinning of hair. Before menopause, in women, high estrogen levels will negate effects of low testosterone levels. During menopause, higher testosterone levels join with enzyme 5 alpha reductase leading to the formation of DHT, which is the major cause for thinning of hair.
