Is medication the only option for treating ADD/ADHD?
Medications can often be helpful for ADHD, and in some cases they seem to be essential for tolerable or satisfactory functioning. Some people can seem to get by without medications, but consideration of potential risks and benefits of a trial on medication is generally recommended for children and adults who have problems associated with ADHD. Key Idea: Medications relieve symptoms of ADHD while they are being taken, but they do not cure the disorder.
