I assume you mean Sen. McCain. It’s hard to know why he did that. McCain’s first wife, Carol, remained loyal to him while he was a POW. During that period, she was badly hurt in an auto accident but asked the US military not to convey word to her husband because he was facing enough problems. McCain repaid her by cheating on her and then dumping her to marry CIndy. McCain was probably attracted to Cindy, a much younger woman. Cindy was 25 while McCain was 42. The fact that Cindy stood to inherit her father’s fortune didn’t hurt either. The money and connections from Cindy’s family got McCain’s political career going. But McCain’s two sons from his first marriage will not campaign for him. They even changed their last names to Shepp, the maiden name of their mother.
