Is maxtor a good brand for hard drives?

I have seen more 1 – 2 year old Maxtor hard drives fail in the last three weeks than I have any other brand ever. I work for a comptuer repair shop, and the majority of hard drive failures we see are Maxtors. Maybe it’s because there is a higher volume of them out there as this is Dell’s drive du jour, but I find them to be unreliable and poorly made.
