Is material sold that is wide enough to make a queen sized blanket?

If you can, I’ve never seen it! Most decorator and designer fabrics are about 54″ wide – wider than the 44″ width you get at the local fabric store. You can sometimes find a fabric in a 60″-62″ width, but it isn’t as common. Drapery sheers come 118″ wide, but they aren’t suitable for bed coverings. You almost always see seams – one on either side of the bed for balance – on any type of bed covering. Even twin beds are too wide for no seams. The seams become part of the design of the piece – you can add welt or make a design incorporating the seams to hide them. I know you are new to sewing, but with practice you’ll be fine!
