Is material posted to the forum or the email list canon?
If someone discusses (for example) an idea about a new coin, it doesn’t become an immutable fact unless it sees print in a story. As authors, we are bound by what the readers have seen within the pages of the magazine. We are not bound by ideas that have been presented on the forum or in email. The ultimate test of whether something is a fact is whether or not it has seen print.
