Is marriages as cherished as they used to be? Or even close to what they should be?

When a thing is redefined away from its original definition and purpose, it loses its value, so is marriage also…

To an extent it still is cherished. Marriage originated as a spiritual commitment with God. It was only through religion that marriage is even heard of and not too many people have a strong relationship with God to do right by their spouse and try to make things work. When people get married they take an oath to God that they will care and support one another. Decades ago, and very few people nowadays would gain a strong relationship with God before they even think of getting serious with someone to marry them. It was though their love and oath to God that kept them going strong or willing to work things out. I don’t believe that people still have that strong relationship with God to do so anymore, because most ppl have self-interest (or try to look out for themselves) in a relationship instead of seeing it as a partnership. And it could be due to many heartbreaks that has caused many to be like this.
